In 2013, Hamister Group, LLC purchased the property located at 150 West 4th Street. Throughout the years, the property has been both a Holiday Inn and Ramada Inn. The company elected to restore the building, gutting it entirely. DoubleTree by Hilton will feature 147 guest rooms, including three suites.

Ahlstrom Schaeffer Electric was proud to be picked as the electrical contractor for the electrical remodel.

This hotel will be an outstanding new addition to this beloved city. From the modern, industrial decor, to the spacious ballroom, and even to the unique gastropub; this hotel will be unlike anything Jamestown has ever seen!

The hotel sits in the heart of the city, located just two blocks away from the phenomenal National Comedy Center!

The 15,000 square-foot addition will improve accessibility and visibility to the arena and includes office, retail and added exhibit space for the National Comedy Center and will lay the groundwork for a sports-themed attraction for youth.

There are two phases to the project. The first phase includes construction of the exterior structure and build out of interior spaces on the first and third floors. The second phase entails the construction of the sports-themed attraction on the second floor of the building.

The first floor of the expansion will be the new Netflix Stand-up Comedy Hall of Fame location. The initial group of Hall of Famers was going to be enshrined during this year’s Lucille Ball Comedy Festival, but it has been postponed until next summer.

The second floor is going to be an area known as “The Zone,” which is going to be an interactive children’s play area. A fundraising campaign will be held to raise the additional funding for the interactive activities in The Zone.

The third floor is going to be office and conference room space for National Comedy Center employees. Both the first and third floor space will be leased to center officials.

In 2015, staff and board of The Reg Lenna - along with regional foundation representatives, Jamestown city officials, and community members - joined with an architectural firm to conceptualize a complete overhaul of The Reg’s lobby, box office, and surrounding buildings to fully realize the potential of the block as a focus for community arts involvement. The Reg was awarded Downtown Revitalization Initiative funding matched by support from the local Gebbie, Sheldon and Lenna foundations to realize the plans.

In December 2017, construction began on the master plan to move 3rd on 3rd Gallery to street level, create new offices, remodel and update WRFA studios and offices, and create a community media arts studio. A new digital marquee was installed in October, taking the place of the existing milk glass. The classic profile of the marquee, including neon and running lights, remains.

In August 2018, the new lobby, box office, concession stand, and a street level 3rd on 3rd Gallery, were opened to the public along with new sidewalks embedded with a snow melt system. The famous 1878 Buffalo Bill Cody billboard was relocated to a Third Street lounge room dedicated to its public display. Situated adjacent to the theater lobby, “Bill’s Place” was formally opened in November. (See 1878 Buffalo Bill Billboard tab for more information on this amazing historical piece!)

Construction on the master plan to renovate all of The Reg’s facilities was completed in December 2018.

Cummins started a deep energy retrofit project at its Jamestown Engine Plant (JEP) in Lakewood, NY, as part of its corporate-wide commitment to reduce energy intensity. The project combines a suite of energy efficiency measures and necessary infrastructure upgrades to achieve significant energy savings alongside optimal systems performance for the entire facility.

January 2012 through 2015, Cummins implemented a phased, whole building energy and infrastructure improvement project, including $5.1 million in energy efficiency improvements. In 2014, the plant installed a new, 2 megawatt solar installation, capable of generating about a third of the plant’s power on the sunniest days. The plant also installed three regenerative dynamometers that recover energy from engine testing and provide power to the facility.

Cummins anticipates that the energy savings from just the energy efficiency-specific measures will be 250 billion BTUs and result in $1.4 million a year in cost savings, which includes gas, electricity and solar photovoltaic savings. The ongoing sub-metering project will help JEP quantify the performance of the improvements.

Ahlstrom Schaeffer Electric has been onsite through all of the internal and external electrical improvements and retrofit projects and will continue to work with the plant with ongoing projects throughout the facility.

Visitors will leave the museum with a profound appreciation for comedy icons and innovators, as well as the tremendous influence of humor on how we think, live, and laugh.

The Lucille Ball Little Theatre of Jamestown, Inc. got its start in 1920. In 1929, a young woman named Lucille Ball was cast in a play called “Within the Law”; this was Lucy’s first acting experience outside of school. At that time The Little Theatre presented a full season of productions with revenue from annual memberships. From 1936 to 1945, membership grew from 1,100 to 5,400 Season Tickets; making Little Theater the largest membership theatre in the United States at the time. In January of 2019, the Lucille Ball Little Theatre of Jamestown, Inc. will enter its 83rd Season of celebrating the performing arts through live theatre, entertainment, education and community involvement. The organization remains New York State’s longest-running community theater.

Currently the Lucille Ball Little Theatre is a Community Theatre with 5 major productions each year, plus the annual Junior Guilders Show. The Theatre Season is January to December. It has a 405 seat auditorium and a 30 X 60 foot lobby, a full stage with a fly capability. All productions are open to the public and special group prices are available.

In 2019, Ahlstrom Schaeffer Electric installed new stage lighting and stage electrics with new DMX controls. We also completed the electrical installation for new air-conditioning to the lobby, offices, theater and stage areas.

UPMC Chautauqua WCA in Jamestown NY is in the process of building a new 18,000-square-foot addition to the hospital on Foote Ave. Once completed, the $26.4 million project will provide a new, state-of-the-art maternity department, along with an upgraded mental health services department that will provide psychiatric care for children and adults dealing with mental illness.
